What is the Batch Cocktail Calculator?
Batching cocktails for a party is more than multiplying — you also have to add the water that shaking or stirring would normally contribute from melting ice. This calculator scales a single-drink recipe to any number of servings and adds the right dilution, so a make-ahead batch tastes balanced rather than harsh. Enter the spirit, liqueur and citrus per drink, choose your dilution, and get the totals to mix, bottle and chill.
How to use the Batch Cocktail Calculator
- 1 Pick your method — it sets the right dilution automatically.
- 2 Enter how many drinks you want, and the amounts per drink.
- 3 Open Fine-tune to set spirit strength for the final-ABV estimate.
- 4 Mix the totals, then chill and serve over fresh ice.
Frequently asked questions
How much dilution should a batched cocktail have? +
Stirred, spirit-forward drinks want about 20% added water; shaken citrus drinks want 25–30%. This replaces the melt you’d get from ice, so the batch tastes like a freshly made drink.
Can I make cocktails ahead of time? +
Yes. Mix the batch with its dilution water, bottle it and refrigerate for a few days. Add any fizzy or fresh ingredients just before serving, over fresh ice.
How accurate are the results? +
The figures come from standard, tested references (USDA FoodData Central and King Arthur Baking) and are excellent starting points. Ovens, ingredients and equipment vary, so treat the numbers as a reliable guide and adjust to taste and doneness.
Is this calculator free, and does it send my data anywhere? +
Yes — it’s completely free and runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded or stored on a server; the maths happens on your device, even offline once the page has loaded.
