Guides, not guarantees

The calculators on CookToolbox are designed to give accurate, helpful starting points based on standard references including USDA FoodData Central and King Arthur Baking. However, ovens, smokers, ingredients, altitude and equipment all vary. Treat every figure — cooking times, temperatures, ingredient weights and conversions — as a guide, and adjust to your own setup.

Food safety is your responsibility

Cooking times are estimates. Always cook food to a safe internal temperature, measured with a reliable food thermometer, rather than relying on time alone. As general guidance, poultry should reach 74 °C (165 °F), and ground meats 71 °C (160 °F); follow your local food-safety authority (such as the USDA or the FSA) for current recommendations.

Brining, smoking and similar techniques must be carried out under refrigeration and with good hygiene. We deliberately do not provide tools for home canning or curing with nitrites, which carry serious safety risks and require validated, tested recipes.

No liability
